Butterflies galore

Hope you are all having a great weekend. It's been raining hard here so another excuse for a day in the craftroom!  I have been busy making these butterfly cards - aren't they just gorgeous?  They are a CASE of  Liz's cards on The Pink Petticoat - using some of her beautiful soft coloured plain papers. I added faux stitching around the edge by linking the holes with a Sakura Clear Star pen. The pearls were hand made using Liquid Pearls

White Card, all colour paper from Pink Petticoat, Versafine Onyx Black, Stamps from SU! and GKD,  butterfly punch, paper piercing pack and tool - SU!, Quickie Glue, White Opal Liquid Pearls, Sakura Clear Star pen, ribbons, baker's twine coloured with Copic pens, dimensionals

Vellum Flowers

This is a card I made today for a friend who is going through a particularly sticky patch in her life at the moment so if you have any spare positive vibes to send this way they will be surely welcome.

I made my background paper using alcohol inks. This was paper pierced and a sentiment added using Versamark and white embossing powder. I stamped the flower image twice on vellum, embossed in white and coloured using Memento and Ranger Distress Ink. I fussy cut the spray and mounted it to the background card using glue dots. I then cut out some individual flowers and attached them over the spray. A navy blue mat was added and they were popped up on dimensionals over a pale blue shimmer textured card - gems and baker's twine added to complete.

Glossy white, navy and Papermania shimmer textured card stock, vellum, Stamps - Dogwood and Butterfly -GKD, Paper Piercing Pack and piercing tool from SU!  felt and block, white embossing powder, Versamark, Adirondack Blending Solution, gems, baker's twine, Ranger Distress Inks-Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage, Forest Moss, Memento Paris Dusk, Adirondack Alcohol Inks - Sailboat Blue, Raisin and Silver Mixative

ACK!! Black??

Challenge hostess Dini came up with a crackerjack  Mix-Ability challenge on SCS this last week - ACK!! Black??  - 3 different ways to shade a stamped image using black only. I chose the third option - Create a background then stamp a line image over it and fill in the outline with black to create a silhouette.
Sentiment added and I think it now looks more balanced...... The colour is much truer too :)

This is the image I used :
Iris by Personal Impressions

I made my background by pouncing  three different alcohol inks, using felt on blocks, onto white glossy card . Then I stamped my iris image with black StazOn. This was then coloured in with a black Copic pen. I let this dry thoroughly then using a crackleglaze background stamp with white pigment ink stamped over the top. The white baker's twine was  partially coloured using a purple Copic pen. The image was mounted onto the card with dimensionals. I haven't added a sentiment yet, I was more interested in learning a new technique.

White glossy card,  Papermania Premium Textured Cardstock- Soothing Heather, Stamps: Personal Impressions - Iris, IndigoBlu Crackleglaze Background. Inks:  StazOn Jet Black, Adirondack Alcohol Inks - Raisin, Purple Twilight, Silver Mixative and Snow Cap Pigment Ink, Copic Pens, Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution. Felt and blocks, white baker's twine and dimensionals.

Is it Summer yet?

It certainly doesn't feel like it. Windy, dull and sooo cold for June. Feels more like March!
Over at SCS Vicki has a lovely colour combo for us this week. I received a Hampton Art Stamp recently called Pansies so thought I'd use this one today. Hopefully the cheerful colours will brighten us up til the sun decides to make an appearance!

I coloured the image using Copic Pens then used the Beyond the Border technique to place the pansies out of the frame using Spellbinders A2 matting Basics B die. The card was run through my Big Shot using Craft Concepts In Stitches embossing folder.  Part of the sentiment was popped up using dimensionals. The grosgrain ribbon was added before mounting on white card stock base.

Hero Arts Painted Flower

This is a beautiful flower but rather larger than I thought!
I stamped some red card with Flower Flourishes and Versamark and dried using a heat gun. The flower image was stamped on white card with Picked Raspberry and Aged Mahogany, Forest Moss and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks. I sponged the edges with Spun Sugar and mounted the image on embossed red card that had faux photo corners. These were made by making double slits at each corner with a craft knife. The sentiment was stamped on white card with GKD sentiment, sponged with Spun Sugar and cut with a Sizzlits die. The ribbon was added together with some pink gems.

Pop Up Sentiment

The Try a New Technique challenge on SCS this week was to pop up part of a sentiment and the CAS Challenge was to use the colours hot pink, celery green, white and kraft. I combined these two challenges.
I really liked the end result and know I will use this technique again. I made a CAS card using this lovely border stamp from Santa Rosa. I stamped Happy in Memento Tuxedo Black and Birthday in Ranger's Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I cut out this part out and popped it up on dimensionals.  The border was coloured with Copic Pens and I added a bit of bling. The white card was adhered to Kraft card base.

Elegant Florals

I so enjoyed making the background for my card yesterday I thought I would use the same method today.

This time I used a square Spellbinder's die to cut out and emboss some white card. Then I masked off the border with post it notes and block stamped some Frayed Burlap, Bundled Sage and Weathered Wood, (spritzed with water) onto the card. Some leaves from Hello Sunshine and the verse from Life is Good (both GKD) were stamped onto the background with Bundled Sage. I stamped the flower and sentiment from Elegant Florals with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear ep.   The image was coloured with a black Copic pen leaving some white parts for highlights.
I made a frame from embossed forest green textured card and mounted this on top of the image which was then attached to the mat with dimensionals.

Pop Art!

Fun challenges on SplitCoastStampers this last few days.
The Mix Ability challenge was to make a simple design with markers or paint,  then outline the shape with a fine black or white pen. The Monday CAS was to use a piercing tool and Monday Try a New Technique was to use at least 3 neutral colours for background and then add a pop of one colour.
I combined the three into one card.

I used Frayed Burlap, Weathered Wood and Bundled Sage Distress Inks as my three neutrals to make my background by first using the Colour Blocking technique and then stamping some  IndigoBlu French Script and  Home Decor Ivy Leaves over the top in Weathered Wood and Bundled Sage. I daubed some Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge in a sort of circle then free hand drew some petals and leaves with a Copic Multiliner. I first coloured the centre black but this looked too stark so I added some Stickles silver to soften.  I paper pierced the oval and corners and added the sentiment.

Saturday Inspiration

Today I used my new Adirondack alcohol inks and made a few backgrounds - what fun .......and messy!. The Saturday Inspiration challenge on SCS was "Anything Preppy" and I chose the Preppy Puppy as the colours were just up my street! The colours I used were Pool and Clover from the Brights range. I stamped the Agapanthus image from Stampendous and the sentiment in Lights Snow Cap and heat embossed in white. For the image I used a spellbinders deckled edge die and cut out some butterflies with an SU! punch, added some gems and adhered them to the black mat with dimensionals having first overlaid the mat with white baker's twine. I expect I will be using these inks more often now - I so enjoyed working with them.

I have entered this in the following Challenges:

Hope you all are having a great day
